hi ive got a problem:
kaidomaru doesn't work - codec viewer told me this is no correct avi file and i cant determine what codec i need for it.
Ive opened the file with a hex editor and i think in the header was written something like that the audiocodec is an ogg vobis codec and the video codec is XVid but i don't know which version. Can anybody help me with this :?:

I don't know which of the 9 files listed you talk about, so just a general advice:
Install the OggDS-filter listed in How to play the files? - Codecs, Players and Tools. I doubt there are (m)any .avi-s that include ogg audio, so it's most likely an .ogm file.

If it's called .avi, that's probably a mistake on your side. Here's the link from AniDB:

I have the file, it was previously in the database as an .avi (and bizarrely play fine for me). Here's my GSpot info:

AVI File Details
========================================
Name.........: Kaidomaru_-_1_-_OVA_-_[ILA][AniDB].avi
Filesize.....: 300 MB (or 307,727 KB or 315,112,724 bytes)
Runtime......: ?
Video Codec..: XviD
Video Bitrate: ?
Audio Codec..: ogg_vorbis_1 (0x674f) Ogg Vorbis
Audio Bitrate: 112 kb/s (56/ch, stereo) VBR
Frame Size...: 576x432 (1.33:1) [=4:3]

Stat: Ogg Media Stream (.OGM)
Stream Type: application/x-ogg
Video Path: (S) --> Ogg Splitter --> Nero Video Decoder --> DirectVobSub (auto-loading version) --> (R)
Audio Path: (S) --> Ogg Splitter --> CoreVorbis Audio Decoder --> MatrixMixer --> (R)

Yes, I know I have no Divx codec installed, but stuff plays fine. :)

extension problems with OGM files occur when people add files to AniDB without changing the dropdown box from avi to ogm - such things happen, it's not a biggie as long as this is cought some time soon. Usually if you have ogg splitter installed if you run the file it still works. If you don't have it installed then you are a bit dumbfounded since you (obviously) won't know what the problem is :-)

I usually open files with problems in VirtualDubMod to find out what exactly causes it.

You can find it here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/virtualdubmod

Indeed. After reading the first post, I silently went through the Kaidomaru-entries and corrected the file-extensions. ;)
