List anime-related, but non-anime files?

This question is somewhat related to this one, but different enough to merit its own topic I suppose. Can/should non-anime shows that are related to an anime be added to aniDB? The first two things that come to mind are GTO Live Action, and Sailor Moon's Live Action televison show.

It could be argued that since both exist within the universe of those animes that they should also be listed on aniDB, but then again, they're not strictly anime. You could say it would open a can of worms and then everyone would want manga and OSTs and etc. listed as well since it's 'within the universe' of a certain anime, but I think it's a fairly easy line to draw; shows are shows and manga/etc. won't be listed.

I know you already stated in that thread I linked to that only anime should be listed on aniDB, but would it really hurt list anime-related shows? Animesuki (bittorrent?! oh horrors!) lists both of those series, and it seems to me that those people interested in the animes for those shows would also be interested in the spinoff live action shows. Live action 'making ofs' are not technically anime (although they do deal directly with the anime, so this isn't the best of arguments), but they're still listed.

Example: After watching the GTO anime, I was curious enough to download an episode or two of the live action. Although I didn't end up watching the series because it was more or less the same story, I'm still glad I saw the two I did and they were a decently interesting watch. Even if there isn't a lot of demand for non-anime shows, at least listing them would allow people to whet their curiousity.

Thoughts? Shutdowns? Insults? :P

Anything live action will not be added to the db, despite its relation to to anime. Sorry.

I know that I have seen Live Action Somewhere (I can't find it right now). So should we report if we find anything so that the mods can delete (or maybe they already did).

Also, what about things like concerts and interviews with the actors/directors/production staff? For instance Love Hina has some of these things.

I'm afraid things like adding some real-life scenes to AniDB is unavoidable, I'm speaking about omake's here ("the making of ...") we got a lot of those as specials, altho adding an entire live-action series is out of the question...at least I think they shouldn't be added

Omakes are at least stuff that found it's way onto an Anime DVD and therefore often enough this is stuff that has been ripped together with the anime from that DVD. Or taken from TV.

Live Action stuff not necessarily has anything to do with Anime. GTO is based on a Manga.

As soon as we add Live Action stuff to the DB we will have to add the manga too, then the soundtrack to the anime, the soundtrack to the live action, and from a certain point on the soungtext of the soundtrack of the anime that is based on the manga also in the DB.

Omake: yes. Borderline.
Anime Music Videos: yes too (IMHO) if they were part of a Series, a special, or somthing on a DVD.

Everything else: clearly no. It's AniDB, not MangaOSTLiveActionAniDB ^_^

well,

in general only anime should be added to anidb.
however i think in some cases we can make exceptions if files are strongly related to an anime (i.e. omakes).

what clearly does not belong into anidb (will be deleted on first sight, feel free to report such entries to the anidb mods):
- any audio files (i.e. OSTs)
- any live action files
- any non-japanese animated stuff (i.e. us cartoons)
- any manga files
- any non-video files (except subtitles)
- ...

BYe!
