Hi there,
I am a recent member that accidentally stumbled on this site. I have read and browsed around trying to learn about the site. But I am lost.
I figured that since I am lost, the best thing to do is ask for help, so here I am asking you for help.
Please tell me in plain english what is AniDB. I know that it suppose to organize anime. How? What if there is no anime to organize?
I love anime. I often rent them and watch. I don't have any saved in my computer. How can I go about collecting them? Can I do that from AniDB. If yes, how?
I very much appreciate your time and answers to these newbie questions.
PS. I have read the disclaimer, the wiki, and other notes here and there, but those words just don't process clearly to my brain.

yes it is. the "mylist" feature aka "create your own list of anime and maintain them" feature is the center of anidb. you can set anime/episodes watched, vote for stuff, write reviews and so onkonman wrote:Please tell me in plain english what is AniDB. I know that it suppose to organize anime.

not really that hard:How?
*signup at anidb and login login
* use the searchfield (upper right corner) or the animelist (navibar) to find the anime you want to add
* expand the episodes on the animepage (the first(!) big "+" thingy

* check the boxes for the files you have, scroll to the bottom of the page to set watch and state of the files (both not neccessary as it can be fixed later as well) and hit "add selected to mylist"
and thats it. there are other ways like aom which are more accurate and faster if you have your files at hand though.

uh then add it IF it really is a valid entry and IF the anime really isn't in anidb. What if there is no anime to organize?
AniDB is a userdriven database meaning everyone can add anime, episodes, files, groups and various more stuff.

yes you can. the white lil files on the bottom of every episodeentry are called "generic files" they can be used for such tasks.I love anime. I often rent them and watch. I don't have any saved in my computer. How can I go about collecting them? Can I do that from AniDB. If yes, how?
you add them the same way as you add normal files
