Re: Allow to merge placeholder files with generic files

Placeholders still have their place until shadow files are implemented, because of the group field.

I guess you know that on IRC it takes you about 20 hits to enter a whole series by one group to your mylist? !add blaseries by blagroup That'd be a really nice feature, though probably not with that syntax, if it existed anywhere but in your imagination. If I'm wrong and Chii really can do this, th...

Why? There's japanese originals and they are anime. Topics like this bring out the extremists and show why a precise set of rules that determine, without exception or ambiguity, whether an animation is `anime' or not cannot please anyone. Under such situations, it is clearly better to be too inclus...

Re: How to determine if an anime has started/finished for vo

I did mention that I could do it in another way, and that's guaranteed not to be tough on the db at all. You also mentioned chaning table layouts and adding overhead though... The overheads are only when changing (_really_ changing, not creq'ing) files, though, and they're utterly tiny; insignifica...

Re: How to determine if an anime has started/finished for vo

don't be so sure about that. you have to keep in mind that performance is always an issue. I suspect that I could do it in one query if I knew what database you are using and the definitions of the tables. (I _know_ that I could do it in one query if I could modify the tables slightly and add the t...

Re: How to determine if an anime has started/finished for vo

Formulating this in SQL is an exercise for the reader, though a simple one. don't be so sure about that. you have to keep in mind that performance is always an issue. I suspect that I could do it in one query if I knew what database you are using and the definitions of the tables. (I _know_ that I ...

... So you see, even I who is a bit more what the DB desires in a user had a rough start, and this is intended. It isn't "malicious" in any way, it is was the DB was designed for. You can't blame a knife for not beeing a fork. However, a relatively simple addition such as is being discuss...

NOTE: this is still very, _very_ broken, annoying as hell and child's play to fix. Hint: what is wrong with the following code (in an appropriate form) if you intend to send the HTML coded entities you can see here by default? <input name="kanji" value="馬鹿&#1...

Aside from that it is supposed to work this way - you should only be able to add files that you actually have (hence the option to mass dump ed2k links or to use AoM to do it for you) or alternatively you could add all files manually which is such a pain in the a** that nobody does it and this is i...

Re: [CGI] Show in episode if it has valid or only generic fi

Please make the + mark on the episode line a different color (like white) if there's no "real" file added for the episode. (This plus mark: http://www.anidb.net/pics/plus.gif) Slightly different request here: Please don't show generic files in the file list at all, but instead provide a w...

determine if anime has started/finished for voting [DENIED]

A date should be considered to have passed at least one day before it actually does to allow for differences in timezones. An explicit start date in the anime's record can either override everything or be the last resort test. I'd prefer the latter, and despite knowing that I'm probably alone in thi...

I would prefer to not want to implement this soon. ;) Question is, how important is it? I mean, how many are using the sha1 and md5 hashes? Anyone? MD5 is actually my standard file checking mechanism, so I appreciate having it. Certainly just having CRC-32 wouldn't be good, as that's nowhere near b...

Hmm, my Opera didn't do that last time i checked. (Aka last time I like an idiot forgot to html encode my kanji!) That's a different situation, and it might handle them differently if, for example, it only decodes character entities for display, leaving them in their original form in internal struc...

i.e. using opera the kanji characters are in deed shown in their decoded form, however opera will still submit the correctly encoded form to anidb.
If Opera does that, it is quite badly broken with respect to the standards.

but I always thought that chii would tell you that it is a match by size only, if she doesn't, that's the bug :P
Then it is a bug, because she didn't (which confused me to no end; I thought that I'd found an ed2k collision).
