[]s in furigana

I've noticed recently some MODEDITs changing ()s in furigana to []. I'm pretty sure who exactly is doing this and I wish to say: please, go read JIS or other japanese-related publishing standard, such as W3C's <ruby> . Even if they allow something else than () when placing furigana inline, () is sti...

Yeah, I've noticed that too, when developing my automation script. Unless I ask for gzip explictly, which I do now, AniDB returns uncompressed content.

Is "touka koukan" (BTW, and yes, some dictionaries do list it) single word or what? Now go check HagaRen and try to catch pause between those words. With japanese habbit to say all syllables with same speed, pausing only between syntagms, it is pretty useless to try to find any pause between nouns.

That's good point. However it'd be hard to judge if word "is very long or hard to read". Hmm, how about exception for kun-yomi based words that translate into single word? I really see nothing wrong in "kuruma isu" - it is same two words in many languages, so why not consider it same in japanese, bu...

Yeah and index for first of those is: #14「蘇る魂」 #15「新たなる告白」 Fun, isn't? Now show me #14 and #15 in DB, please. You know, lots of sites say "second" and "third" every 13/26 episodes for lots of anime, but they somehow stay as one entry. Does Condor Hero have ep. #27? If yes, then, IMO, it should be me...

Hm, DonGato, do you have in mind example of separate entry first season without ending in DB right now? My main reason for merging is numbering and naming, though, as I've already said. If there's method to keep two anime called "Shinkon Gattai Godannar!!" in base with eps. 1-13 and 14-26 - I wouldn...

Skywalka, will you kill yourself if I ask really nicely? Anyway, go read start of the thread. I don't see anything that could be considered "not nice". I think that you just call "bitching" anything you don't care about. Anyway, I recently finished Godannar and now can confirm this from plot positio...

PetriW's table much more correct.

DIV4 always were DivX 3 Fast-Motion. It is never DivX 4. And DIVX 4cc is DivX 4. Actually if DB is ever switched to 4cc, just add divs field along with it and then, as already suggested, map pairs on user-friendly names.

"ha" -> "wa" was too mentioned in that discussion. Because it is just too common, it was decided that it'd be an exception. This does not apply to "wo" though, as "wo" -> "o" is not even nearly as common.

"Try to limit word to shortest possible combination of kanji with on-yomi without leaving one dangling kanji and treat each kanji with kun-yomi as separate word, unless there's consonant shift" should work, I think. So "natsu iro" and "natsu matsuri" should be split, and "sunadokei" or "choukyori" s...

In both kunrei-shiki and the hepburn system を Yeah, and in stricter Nihon-shiki and wapuro it's "wo", so what? Both of those have advantage of very precise kana<->romaji mapping (this particular reason, BTW, was discussed in initial "what romaji we should use" talk and AFAIR was accepted as good th...

Alas, I don't see how you do it "for everyone" - want me to recall history of approvals with "wo"? What you continue to ignore is that it is not "personal style" - it is what japanese use and, therefore, what should be used in romaji. Just try those searches and compare numbers: http://www.google.co...
