If that includes a list that shows me the last n files I added to my mylist in chronological order, I'm all for it. :P

Well, personally, if I need a database that offers most feautures and supports complex queries, I'd pick postgresql as well. But if long-term stability and performance are most important, I'd go with MySQL and MyISAM tables.

MySQL currently offers: MySQL 4.0 (stable, outdated) MySQL 4.1 (stable, recommended for production systems) MySQL 5.0 (development release, not tested enough to be considered stable) - views (partial, 5.0~) - sequences (missing, ?) - constraints (present in 4.1) - subqueries (present in 4.1) - trigg...

Well, and all I'm saying is that "freely circulating" is the same thing as "available". ^^

No, the file does exist and should be listed in AniDB because it is freely available - not via ed2k and not right now, but if I wanted it, I could ask you to (re)share it on ed2k. If the people who currently have the file (not those, who made the file) are willing to share the file in some way or an...

A simple 0/1 flag? That's a very "wherever-you-currently-live"-centric point of view. ^^ Normally, anime licenses only cover single countries or language regions. An anime that is licensed in the USA by a US company might not be licensed in France or Germany. If you wanted to track this information ...

Actually, I disagree. Files that never make it out of a closed group shouldn't be added to AniDB. Then again, if they do get added, there's no reason to delete such rare files, while private rips that only one single person can have should actually be deleted, or rather joined with the generic file.

RG even have a website that lists all releases, all files and for each file the official CRC32 checksum - so where's the problem? It doesn't matter how one got a file or whether that file was ever meant to be spread or not, it only matters that the file exists and that it's contents match the filena...

I already see it coming... a complete revision of genres for animes in AniDB... this is going to be a looot of DB Change requests http://animereactor.ath.cx/forum/images/smiles/mod_icon_lol.gif If something like that would ever happen, I'd make three suggestions to make it all easier: - Implement a...

There are many solutions and many ways to organize the navigation structure within each of and between the two sites. I just described the one I think would be most useable, as I think that it'd be not a bad idea to separate the file-database from the info-database.

Ok, serious: A "community info" database with relevant factoids about animes would be quite interesting. Indexing anime characters, relations to other characters and animes and when and where the character first appeared would be a good start. The whole thing could be extended to include other relev...
