You should try HMAC-MD5 someday.

Thanks for the files, I imported it to http://cvs.baka-sama.de/cvsweb.cgi/chii-bot/ - everyone who wants to help & needs write access to the repository, drop me a line. The following files seems to be missing. They might be unimportant; I just grepped for require/use lines: adb_db.pm adb_file_sy...

So far everyone seems to call them "genres", so genres I assume they are. Then you may have missed this . Yep, I did indeed (well, at least at the time I wrote my posting). Doesn't invalidate the reminder of it, though. Especially not the fact that calling them "genres" is a stu...

(...)As far as the tree structure goes, I think you're too fixated on viewing these as genres and subgenres. I'm not. Exp is. I'm fine with a looser directed graph structure (that is, a "genre" potentially being a "subgenre" of more than one other "genres"). That's not...

There's a tracker ticket for a similar problem already: http://www.anidb.net/tracker/view.php?id=22 - solving that would allow solving your problem, too. @pelican: Sorting by the current romaji field isn't an option for two reasons; first, it would produce a totally different sorting from the one us...

nah, we can't let the users specify arbitrary strings as genres. we'd just be back at the anime description level. there's not much to be won by doing it that way. (but I take it your comment was not entirely serious anyway? :o) I'm not enteriely serious, but mostly so. You have two levels of categ...

As far as I can see the more genres the better (see my post in the other thread), but what kind of genres are those two?!?

I'd propose a slightly different set of genres (listed as a regular expression so you can add it easily to the AniDB):

Code: Select all

/^.*$/

the hashes are mainly meant to identify files and allow ppl to check their files for corruptions. they're normally not meant to be used in any file sharing utilities. Actually, Winny uses MD5 hashes (... and even without the file size - you can set the range in which the file size has to be, in MB,...

Why stop at the ed2k link? Forbid adding files without all four hashes (ed2k, MD5, SHA1, CRC32)! Wel, ok, I'm only half-serious here. I'm "guilty" of adding a file without an ed2k link ( but with a valid MD5 hash and a correct file size, so you could get the file via Winny if you wanted), ...

No more temporary votes based on the previews, on the prequels or previous versions (for remakes) or on the knowledge of the original books, manga or computer games, among others? Meh. I don't think I like the idea.

Seconded. I already made an icon for this in this thread with a list of subtitle languages we should add.
