Yes, I very much believe so... (The main charactor Kaiji, looks awfully lot like Akagi with that nose :wink:, but their personallities aren't alike... The gener of Kaiji is similar to Akagi, this time the game is restricted jaken... (As for fan-sub groups: Triad, who also did Akagi, is on this show)...

As for anime shows... Elfen Lied is quite unique... I think you'll like it...
If your up for something of different setup / gener, I can also recommend Shigurui... A new show which I have found somewhat interesting...

If a development in the charactors personlity is what your looking for, both anime show and manga of Kenpuu Denki Berserk could be an option...(I prefer the manga as it contiunes beyond the anime) In the story you see great changes in Guts life, since his dramatic birth to his meeting with the Hawk!...

You should try these... The manga "Love and Collage" (INOUE Kazurou) I wont tell much about it, but the lead is in the same situation as Keitaro, but their personallity is very different... This is a story about "love for parts"... It's great don't miss it :!: Shijou Saikyou no D...

The anime of The Twelve Kingdoms is based on a novel of Fuyumi Ono. As far as I know, the novel (a serie of 12 or more books) never finished as Fuyumi started focusing on a different book. If you want to know more to the history of The Twelve Kingdoms, you should read the novels. I don't think there...
