This is how I solved it: At first each time it hang i've been deleting kowai folder to start from a fresh copy. This time i have *not* deleted it and started AOM again. At first it was the same (~5min freeze), than it started processing and this time it processed it to the end. I'll try recreating i...

Well I have the same problem. The "Processing dump download..." window simply freezes and AOM.exe uses 100% CPU. After 5mins or so it started moving, went to about 50% and disappeared. Log says: Connection to AniDB successfully terminated. All queued tasks completed, but lists are empty. A...

150Gib much? I don't think so (if you have something more seriuos than a PIII-600 box). 5Tib or smth would be ~serious. I have recently rehashed some portion of my anime and that was something ~150Gib and it took me an hour or smth so i don't think it's that scary (especially during night time ;) )

Well i clearly understand that. I'm not suggesting to do it on such a large scale. But this would be a way to use decentralize AniDB a bit by using donated even low-spec servers... Ok well anyways i think we'll have to go back to this problem when it's time and this new server can't take the stress ...

Well maybe a good idea would be a solution similar to wikipedia's one. Using a few (would be good atleast 2) servers as main database serves and using seperate (in this case all those donated low-spec servers) for caching (squid or smth.). This would be easy to implement and maintain only for common...

No wonder it's hard to reach ;) It must have sort of high ping times if so :D I've remembered MilesMi solution to save hard drives the one with "call his mother and tell her to turn off the circuit breaker" i can already imagine how that should look like ;)

Where is the server situated geographically? Maybe some dedicated AniDB users might help rebooting it? (I suppose it's not in somekind of a datacenter or smth. so getting physical access to it might be relatively easy (e.g. to it's circuit breakers ;) ))

M... Are you sure that it does not have the same problem? I tried it but ahh well i didn't have much time to delve trough it and it's settings but with default settings it also renamed files in S0001 manner...

Well i don't think that the .239 part is worth the name "version".. even "subversion". It's a build. Ver very very minor change and i think it's not worth waiting 'till some other changes gather up to release a new build ('cause that might happen the year after the next year ;) )...

When will we have a new version released which will fully support new specials when renaming files? I mean not S0001, S1001, S2001 but O1, S1, C1, C2 etc. I think it's probably not that difficult to implement and maybe there should be a patch or smth and u should not wait for next version 'cause.. w...

I'm not sure if this is a bug report or a feature request because I'm sure you're aware of this problem, but: In 0.5.5.240 AOM still has an issue with special file renaming, because of new special file ep. numbering system. Regular specials are named S000x, and for example credit files are named S10...
