Also note that JP R2 DVDs will always be at least 2x the price of R1 DVDs (at least if you take the episode count into account), that's just the way it is.

Flag is probably pretty good, but airs on a streaming channel only so the raws/fansubs appear very irregularly. NHK is pretty/very good imho. Hoshizora Kiseki was very boring, but I found Beyond the clouds boring as well, so if you liked that, it might be worth checking out. Haven't seen any of the ...

Mononke even had the english and some other language dubs on the JP release.

I'm pretty sure all Ghibli DVDs have english subs. Btw, the release date in anidb is the date when it starts in the cinemas, not the DVD release date.

sure, why not. The Rockman/Megaman franchise still seems to be pretty popular, seeing that they make a new series each year. But then, I'm no JP animation studio exec, so I doubt there actually will be one anytime soon ^_^

Isn't Touch about BB as well. That one is widely regarded as one of the best sports series ever, although a) I never watched it (101 eps) and b) I think it has a huge focus on characters rather than on sports, so it's most likely nothing like Major.

nana is the story of two young women that come to Tokyo to seek for thei dreams. One of them is a member in a rock band and plays the guitar. It's not exactly like Beck, because tghat one is even heavier focused on the music playing aspect, but nana's pretty good imho.

ATM, there is no easy way to detect if a file is VFR (pretty much the only way to be sure is to extract the timecodes), hence that checkbox will be majorly misused / ignored by 95% of the user population.
