personally i woulr really like if there was a DC++ link possible but it would require an hash hats not yet in the database as well Reference thread for that part. If at a future time, the AniDB database supports TTH, they will be able to add the TTH hash to the magnet and gain more support from the...

epoximator wrote:p2p? never heard of... why not kill the ed2k links instead?
Because that alienates clients that only support ED2K links.

I'm not aiming to destroy support for one community to give support to another with my suggestion.

http://bitzi.com/applications/ The "Can handle "magnet:" links to trigger searches and downloads of exact files." clients listed at the above site are just handful of examples of programs that can take advantage of magnets. Adding magnets alongside ED2K links will give users of t...

You don't need to change the hashing systems to support magnets. All the information needed to make a magnet:?xt=urn:sha1:<sha1 base32>&xt=urn:ed2k:<ed2k hexadecimal>&xl=<filesize>&dn=<filename> link is already stored in the database. Additionally, the magnet link standard is modular, pe...

I came here with valid concerns and got flamed for bringing them up, with no indication that the concerns were going to be acted on at all. How exactly is that not a waste of time? I must also point out that the series that tipped me off to this difference in filenames has a different episode number...

I don't think they are valid reasons to start from. You should develop better tools for your group or let the task of doing the rename to the users. Just providing an SFV file with the proper names and CRCs it's enough for the user to check the name given by your group to the file. You don't think ...

I only know for sure about the time I've been at my computer. I would have to check over ~6mo of logs to verify. All it takes is 1 person to ruin things for everyone. Our IRC patchbots REFUSE to work with renamed files. BitTorrent for single files is fine, since it checks the file you specify for th...

Most SFV checking utilities don't work with names that differ from the .sfv file after all it doesn't really matter how the files are named as long as they can be identified. Batch torrents don't work without renaming to match so it's not that simple. You don't believe it takes 30 minutes to rename?...

And if we don't have this option we might have groups spending 30-45 minutes trying to get people to rename the files to match their official list (which I had to do this morning), then end up having to force them to RE DOWNLOAD the entire series in order for us to verify the download.

Official Filenames for ED2K links [DENIED]

Requesting feature:
Option to override AniDB generated name with group's official filenames in ED2K links.

When a group has an official filename, they typically have a reason (or in the case of the group I work with, more than 1 reason) for their filenames.
