MySQL was made to be small and fast and to handle small databases
It would be rather stupid to buy Oracle for small db

I think something like "fast recognition mode" would be better.
for example: md5 for first kilobyte, last kilobyte and kilobyte in the middle of file.

Maybe simple md5 or pgp would be sufficient?
Cheking is more troublesome. But it must be easy for security maniacs

maybe rewriting AOM to Java would be better?

maybe notification via rss would be better. and it will reduce server load (compared to e-mails)
