Well I do think we should change our official policy or not change the files. Otherwise entropy takes the database quickly, with files arranged according to individual whim. And we can't have that.

OK, so now eps 1&2, 3&4 have been moved from specials to ep 1 and 3, respectively. Does this mean aniDB's policy has changed for "If a group releases all eps in multi-ep-files" and no longer uses specials for them?

Caster: It was late at night and I was being silly. Sorry for the "some schmuck" comment, I meant no insult. If a group releases all eps in multi-ep-files (e.g. Future Boy Conan (http://anidb.info/perl-bin/animedb.pl?show=anime&aid=330)), these files should be added to specials If a gr...

[MOVE][FILE] FID 148061: Tweeny Witches ep 5 & 6

some schmuck just added a file for episode five of Mahou Shoujo Tai Arisu to represent AnimeForever's eps 5&6 double release. If someone could be so kind as to make it a special like was done for 1&2 + 3&4, and maybe send this guy a link to the generic files explanation page, it would be...

Re: UDP API Feature Requests

would it be possible for MYLIST to return "320 NO SUCH FILE" in cases when that fid or hash doesn't exist anywhere, not just in the mylist? (currently it only seems to return "321 NO SUCH ENTRY") The reason I ask is, if MYLIST returned 320 my code could skip the FILE command com...

Oh! One other thing. The (up to) 24 hour site cache update delay makes me sad. Is there any hope of it disappearing, or is that just technically unfeasible? It makes a pretty strong argument for using the site over a client if it takes a DAY!

UDP API Feature Requests

After studying the UDP API for a while, I have two suggestions: - would it be possible for MYLIST to return "320 NO SUCH FILE" in cases when that fid or hash doesn't exist anywhere, not just in the mylist? (currently it only seems to return "321 NO SUCH ENTRY") - Could support be...

OKAY. I'm in, too.

Title: CocoaAOM (Super tentative working title, with apologies to PetriW)
OS: Mac OS X
Lang: Objective-C

Details: Notify and message observing. File hashing, identification, renaming, addition to mylist.

A mockup is available here

I still think that the UDP API is exactly what you need. I definitely *want* to use the UDP API. But I am unsure it provides enough functionality to be useful. The biggest problem I have is with the 24 hour delay before changes are reflected. Exp, is this still the case? I remember your changelog s...

It was even possible to run KDE and such on a mac, so..... those stories aren't correct? This is absolutely correct, in fact I've done it, running KDE over OS X. Apple has done an admirable job of implementing the X window system. But X apps still don't feel like regular ones. They're rather awkwar...

If you build a program that works in x.org (linux/bsd/*n?x) then it will work in OS X aswell. Ugh... X11 integration is nearly nonexistent on OS X. X apps run in their own little world. No standard GUI widgets, keyboard shortcuts, or even drag and drop (a must for a file-based application) To be go...

Heh, you're silly. It won't be a full client, at least initially, because the API is private. I must establish myself as trustworthy to EXP (hanging out on IRC, and so on) but haven't yet found the time. I figured a limited client would be a good warmup until such time I have the full spec. But, aft...

I haven't dropped this idea, but I haven't moved ahead with it either. I have learned objective-c/Cocoa in the interim. Ah, what the heck. I'll start soon on a limited client (hashing, notifications, file add) Thanks for the interest, it got me motivated. I'll keep everyone posted, just have to thin...

Well, I'm not saying notifies should be sent for everything on the wishlist. Just like it works now: items on the wishlist have the little bell icon to set or unset a notify. Since the wishlist page already has features to control notifies, I'm suggesting it list all of them, not just those connecte...

hmm, i on the other hand, don't have any animes on wishlist and all my notifies are from animes that i have or i don't have but aren't in my wishlist, so i don't see any use in changing the actual behaviour, as it works quite nicely :P That seems like a side-effect of the existing system's vaguenes...
