I don't think we should categorize cosplay as an ecchi activity. ;)

So maybe:
Genre::Drama::Otaku
Genshiken, Comic Party

Genre::Drama::Otaku::Cosplay

Not to me, that means if you have a non-drama anime but it has cosplay, the weight would be added to drama (with the current system).
It doesn't belong in the drama category.

What I'm saying is that an anime having non-fetishised nurses is not a useful categorisation of that anime.

I know that you people have got it into your heads that you need to categorise anime on every single fucking thing in it, but you really don't. We do not need, for example, a sushi category although many, many anime feature this particular dish.

damn it and here i was about to suggest food: sushi and food:ramen

but seriously. he's right. we are not playing spot the useless item in the corner, but break the anime into relevant parts.

I'm proposing a completely different tree, worked countless hours on this.

Please read them carefully if you do read. In my opinion it would do a much better job and be less confusing than the current system.
I hope that at least some of my ideas will be used in the AniDB category system if not all.

I hope I'm not restating an already existing suggestion.

After just having read a discussion over at ANP about someone wanting a genre-divided Hentai DB and getting the answer "AniDB has incorporated a new genre system" I checked out the Hentai options.

Well, for most hentai fans looking for specific contents it is underdressed.

Crooked lovin':

genre::shounen-ai
genre::shoujo-ai

Activities:

genre::hentai::sexual activity::gay
genre::hentai::sexual activity::lesbian (different from yuri)
genre::hentai::sexual activity::male homosexuality (different from yaoi)

Fetishular titillations:

genre::hentai::fetish::huge breasts
genre::hentai::fetish::tiny breasts
genre::hentai::fetish::bulging muscles
genre::hentai::fetish::widows
genre::hentai::fetish::uniforms
genre::hentai::fetish::gadgets
genre::hentai::fetish::pain (different from torture)
and more...

Perhaps it should be noted that there is overlap between the genre::ecchi::breasts and the genre::hentai::fetish groups. Perhaps fetish should be a 1st level group (so both an ecchi and a hentai could include fetish::huge breasts etc).

I fear that you have no chance to redo the actual way it is. You can add of remove a few categories, but no Moderator or Admin will agree to switch to your work, as good as it could be.

Not at all. When it comes to the fireman categories, we're *looking* for complete rewrites.

Oh, then I want to completly remove the +, *, *+, **, **+, *** system.
Three levels is way enough : *, **, ***.
Two levels is good as well.
And one level only would be perfect, no need to argue anymore about the quantity or quality of ACTION, ROMANCE, 18-Restricted, CHILDREN, SPORTS, ROBOTS, ...

Of course, people who completely miss the point will be ignored.

Ok, ok, ok.
At least, make it a way it won't hurt the eyes. Instead of +, *, *+, **, **+, ***, make it 0, *, **, ***, ****, *****

Still missing the point. EXP only has control over the code, mods can only move stuff around.
