There is a Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi 2 listed on the AniDB website. What is the source? Who put that up there and where did they get information about this or is this just a rumor?

I read in Newtype USA that a second season was confirmed for Haruhi but as far as I know its still in production. I also would appreciate any other information on this.

There is not much known apart from the fact that it was announced.

haruhi.tv ? That's the official announcement on the official page, so it's not just a rumor anymore. I seriously doubt it's already in production though, KyoAni is producing Clannad atm and afaik this studio only works on one project at a time.
The picture in newtype suggests the new season will feature Bamboo Leaf Rapsody & Disappearance; and everyone is hoping that it will come right after Clannad, which would mean Spring '08.
