Occam's Razor? Yeah, well without being able to see the mechanics of the new system, we can't judge what is simpler and what is more complex. True, the old system was just about as simple as they get, but take Newtonian physics for instance. Its simpler then Relativistic physics, yet its not more co...

I was just noticing that myself. I was looking through and things seems to be clumping together at 8. While there is nothing wrong with that being the average, it reduces the value of the rating. I haven't looked at all animes, but of those I glanced at, this seems to be the case. In reality it may ...

While I won't try and get anything out you, I will say that your behavior could lead some to believe that the current/new system is not quite loser proof (meaning gaping wound type flaw) which could encourage the wrong people, and discourage those such as myself. I'll just have to answer this questi...

This question is a bit different then the previous questions. I simply wish to know if the new system takes into account all users and all their animes as opposed to only those votes cast for the anime in question. This shouldn't give ballot suffers any advantage. If anything it should tell them &qu...

I'm sure you've already had lots of discussion about it, but here's my 2c worth. I think that you'd probably have to utilize a combination approach including: 1. A 'user ranking' system in a similar way to Google's 'page rank' system, where an account is assigned a value according to voting pattern...

Actually, as I said several times, my last suggestion was easier on a computer. I'm not big into software, but the number of operations is a factor correct. Well, mine, after I boiled it down, had three SQL queries and added them together. Of course, it wasn't very effective, not that egg's was. Tha...

I've been asking Egg for data for months now. While I told Egg one format I'd like the data in, so that I can put it into Mathematica where I can test all sorts of things easily, the more I think of it, I don't really know how to input the data properly as I'm more use to doing calculus related prob...

Whats with this third party recommendation system?

Egg and I have been working very hard to get AniDB their our own system. While Egg has been gone for a long while, I'm still here. I can't code, but there are surely others that can.

I found it

I know no one cares, but I've posted this on the three forums that I use. This is one of them. I found the first volume of my [personal] mathematics note books. I lost it a while ago and have been searching for it on and off ever since. It contains all the really old stuff (that still surpasses what...

We could always install the V-chipset, but that wouldn't give the proper gestapo style heavy handed punishment that a moderator could. But moderatros piss me off. I suggest the "eThrashing" system where users spam the fuck out of the offenders message box. The offends ends up reemed so far...

I would like to comment on the above aside from "you have as much chance as I do," but thats too depressing so I won't. I don't really fallow and I don't really care (something in abundance around here). But really, it does seem like it was thought out to some degree, unfortunately any new...

Moving away from the errous method that has missing data, I have a method of standardizing the data along multiple axies (in this case anime and users) for the dependent variable (votes). That was the extremely easy part. Now I have to make sure it isn't a load of crap (I perffer to have everything ...

The thing with the "subtract 5 instead of 5.5" is that the equation uses squares, and if your data is off balance it will cause problems. Not that it really matters. The data is basically off balance because people tend to vote with higher votes overall than lower votes anyway... I don't ...

The thing with the "subtract 5 instead of 5.5" is that the equation uses squares, and if your data is off balance it will cause problems. Not that it really matters. What that last part was doing was just showing you that this cosines method is the same corrilation method at heart. The mid...
